“No matter what, I will be at your wedding.”

Our beloved cocker spaniel, Jessie, passed away on Friday, October 5th.

We lost her less than 4 days after she was diagnosed with an aggressive lung tumor.  Thankfully, I was able to clear my schedule and Greg and I had 3 full days with Jessie before she peacefully passed away in the loving arms of my husband, at our home.

All of this happened during one of my biggest wedding weekends of 2012.  And now I know the weight of these words when I share them with a couple:

“I will be at your wedding, no matter what.”

This is commitment I make and one that I do not take lightly.  With a heavy heart – and somehow finding the heart and courage to celebrate Jessie’s life by marrying well, I had a beautiful weekend of truly beautiful and inspiring couples.

I had to stop myself a few times.  The tears would often overwhelm me.  I had to change my contact lenses several times.  I had a huge jelly donut in Jessie’s honor (she loved donut bites).  I said a little prayer for her several times when the feeling of loss would flow over me.

So many of us adore our animals.  I can’t tell you how many dogs I have each year in a wedding ceremony.  How blessed we are all to be guardians to these soulful creatures who truly know the gift of unconditional love.

To our sweet Jessie – be with the angels, my darling.  With all my love, Annemarie
